The Scarlet Letter Response

After reading the summary on the scarlet letter, i am looking forward to reading it. Even though, i have never read even one word from the book, just the summary makes me want too. It seems like it would be a very good book to read. I am also wondering what caused Hester to commit adultery and i also find it wrong that she was jailed just because she got pregnant even if it is in a puritan society.
